What is a medical coding audit?
A medical coding audit re-codes billed encounters from the clinical documentation and compares the result with what was billed. Disagreements come in three forms: undercoding, overcoding — a payer-audit risk — and missed or unspecific diagnoses. This one is free and automated: about 25 encounters in, a written report back.
